Parents & Community Members

Community Members & Parents

Are you a Parent or Community Member looking to get involved in Power U? Learn more about your role and what we are up to!

Power U is important because parents and community members need spaces to come together and figure out how can we make our schools better. We want to learn from each other and bring together ideas, thoughts, and resources that we can use every day to help improve our children’s education and bring up parent engagement in school.  Power U provides this space for us to meet each other and grow together.

How can I get Involved?

  • Attend the next Power U community meeting.
    • Our meetings are the best way to connect and learn about the organization. We host meetings year-round covering a variety of topics. Our goal is to organize community members like yourself toward the change you want to see.
  • Speak to our Organizing Director Jessica (jessica@poweru.org)

More Opportunities to Make Change

Power U’s work makes leadership development and civic participation accessible to students, teachers, and parents in Miami-Dade County. Because we exist, more and more everyday people are learning, getting involved in local budget processes, and making their voices heard. This work is not possible without committed volunteers, and people who are committed to sustaining our work through donations. The Development Committee (DC) works with everyone who believes in the purpose of our organization and works to find ways for more people to learn about supporting the organization. If you want to be involved in day-to-day activities, special events, fundraising efforts, and more within the organization, you can join our development committee to work alongside our Development Director.
