Youth in Miami showed out to make our second Youth Talent Bash bigger and better than the first. With an amazing crew of entertainers and judges, the evening was inspiring and the crowd was thrilled.
It was really tough but our judges eventually narrowed the performers down to four winners. Jasmine Nails a.k.a. "V Executioner" blew us all away with her slammin spoken word, laying out the deep thoughts and feelings as often only youth are able to. Jabril Ivory a.k.a. "DJ Jabril, MixMaster" helped everyone get their groove on with his beats and keyboard! Jasmine Johnson (also winner of last year's talent bash) brought almost everyone in the house to tears with her always amazing singing. Theresa Liberatore a.k.a. "the Primitive Lady Fox" and guests enchanted the audience with a modern dance reflecting on our roots as humans in nature. Many other young people shared their talents with us and made the evening one of the best of 2008!
Our amazing Judges blessed us with their own performances too! JJ Alvarez performed spoken word, Beatrice Gilbert and Kristoff Skalet both sang and La Guardia Cross gave us a sneak peak preview of a song from his upcoming album! Thank you to all of our judges for making this such a fun event!
Everyone showed lots of support and energy and Miami really showed that YES, we do have talent and we are creating spaces and a culture to share and nurture that talent together in a positive environment where everyone is welcome. Stay tuned for the next event!
